How Long Will a Christmas Tree Last?

With proper care and setup, a real Christmas tree can last up to a month.

Isn't an Artificial Tree Better for the Environment?

Artificial trees on an average last for 6 years. These trees are made out of non-biodegradable materials and fill up our landfills year after year. If they are burned, they can produce toxic fumes.

On the other hand, real trees are made by nature so they are entirely biodegradable. During their growing period at the farm, they provide homes for birds, protection for small animals, and produce oxygen for us to breathe. Many municipalities also offer curbside pickup services for trees after Christmas.

What's the Difference Between Annual and Perennial Flowers?

Annuals will grow from seed, bloom, set seed, and then die in one growing season. Petunias and marigolds are examples of annual flowers. Most annuals will bloom continuously from spring through fall and need to be replanted every spring.

Perennial flowers will live for three or more seasons. They may or may not be mature enough to bloom in their first year from seed. Perennials need periodic rejuvenation or replacement, usually every three to five years. Most perennials bloom only for a short time, up to three weeks, once per year. An easy way to remember the difference is "P" is for permanent and for perennial.
